Match preview

Two sides desperate for a bounce-back result are set to lock horns in a Ligue 1 clash at the Stade Francis-Le Blé this Sunday, April 2nd.

The matchup in question will see Stade Brestois act as hosts, in a meeting with Toulouse.

Beginning with the former, Brest remain in the thick of the battle against relegation from the French top-flight.

This comes in no small part owing to a concerning stretch of form heading into the international break, culminating in just a solitary win eight.

Eric Roy’s troops did, to their credit, at least manage to steady the ship last time out, courtesy of a 2-2 stalemate away to Troyes.

But the fact remains that another Brest defeat on Sunday, coupled with an Auxerre victory over Troyes, would see Roy and co. dragged into the drop zone.

No doubt inspiring hope in the hosts’ camp when it comes to a potentially positive result at the Francis-Le Blé on Sunday, though, will be the equally dismal recent form of their upcoming opponents.

Toulouse, for their part, have also endured a less than fruitful time of things of late.

In fact, four of their last five have resulted in defeat, three of which saw Les Violets’ struggles in the final third highlighted by way of shutouts in front of goal.

Most recently, a home meeting with LOSC Lille saw Toulouse look as though they had done enough to emerge with a hard-fought point.

In turn, it came as a heavy blow when the visiting Dogues netted a pair of late goals at the Stadium Municipal, en route to a 2-0 final scoreline.

Such woes, all told, have culminated in Philippe Montanier’s men slipping to 12th in the Ligue 1 table.

And we at 101 are therefore backing hosts Brest to ultimately do enough to clinch a share of the spoils come the full-time whistle in the west of France.
