Toulouse are aiming to jump back from two games without a victory as they welcome Monaco to Stadium TFC this Sunday afternoon with the away side now up into sixth as they continue to climb the table.
Monaco struggled to make a name for themselves in 2022/23 during the early stages of the campaign, but with a 2-0 win over Angers in the last game, the club are now eyeing up a spot in the top four ahead of the World Cup break. Breel Embolo netted again that day, as Aleksandr Golovin scored too.
The club did lose to Lille just prior to this, however, and is still a lot to prove from Philippe Clement’s men if they are to get into the top four this season and edge nearer to the Champions League for next season. Nevertheless, with seven wins on the board and 25 goals scored, only Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain have scored more than them in the season. Moreover, with fifth-placed Marseille meeting rivals Lyon this weekend, Monaco could jump into fifth if results go their way.
Toulouse are as inconsistent as it gets in Ligue 1 this season, losing 3-0 to Lens last time out after drawing 2-2 with Strasbourg and beating Angers 3-2. The club also defeated Montpellier in October, before a 1-1 draw with eighth-placed Lyon.
They are only out of the top half on goals difference, meaning they need to better Nice’s result this weekend to have a chance of getting into the top half of the table ahead of the break after next week’s games.
