Two sides in very contrasting areas of the Championship table will meet in the FA Cup this weekend as Luton Town welcome last-placed Wigan Athletic to Kenilworth Road on Saturday evening.
The Hatters are in their best spell of form in 2022/23 and they have won all three games since Christmas. This run started with a 2-1 victory over Norwich City, before hammering Queens Park Rangers 3-0 away from home.
A 2-1 win for Luton over Huddersfield Town has now launched them into seventh in the Championship, as they are behind Middlesbrough in fifth by only goals difference. In fact, Rob Edwards’ men are behind third-placed Blackburn Rovers by just two points and have a game in hand.
As for Wigan, it’s been a disastrous period for them in the second tier. The club have lost the last four games in the league and conceded four goals in all three games since Christmas.
Sunderland, Boro and Hull City have all beaten them 4-1 in recent weeks and Wigan have now let in 46 goals from 26 games in the Championship.
