Eight of the nine MLS meetings between these two have produced home wins, including each of the last six. Atlanta United have lost just 15 of 88 matches since moving into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in September 2017 across all competitions. One of those defeats did come at the hands of Chicago Fire, a 1-0 U.S. Open Cup victory in 2018.

Both teams to score is 4/5.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 5/4.

Atlanta United to win and over 2.5 goals is 7/4.

Marcelino Moreno is 5/1 to break the deadlock and 2/1 to score anytime.

Match preview

Can Atalanta United get back to winning ways?

Marcelino Moreno did produce a stunning equaliser in Canada, but a goal just eight minutes from time won it four the hosts.

As a result, Gonzalo Pineda’s side have now taken just one point from their last four games, also losing on the road to Charlotte FC and Inter Miami.

The 2018 MLS Cup winners are sorely missing first-choice goalkeeper Brad Guzan and talismanic centre-forward Josef Martínez, both of whom are out long-term.

Although, Atlanta are still unbeaten on home turf this season, winning two and drawing two, but desperately need three more points here.

The lower half of the Eastern Conference is very congested right now.

This is highlighted by the fact Atlanta, currently above the play-off line, are just one point clear of Chicago Fire who are second bottom.

Ezra Hendrickson’s team haven’t exactly been the great entertainers in 2022, with four of their first seven fixtures finishing scoreless.

Last weekend, they took the lead through Xherdan Shaqiri’s impudent penalty, before their clash with New York Red Bulls was delayed by almost two hours due to heavy rain.

After the hiatus, Jhon Durán and Rafael Czichos were both sent off with RBNY fighting back to win 2-1, scoring a stoppage time spot-kick of their own.

That’s now back-to-back defeats for the Fire, who are winless in five.

Who will claim three much needed points at Mercedes-Benz Stadium?
