Philadelphia Union are unbeaten in seven meetings with FC Cincinnati, winning five of them.

Match preview

Will Philadelphia Union’s relentless form continue?

Last time out, Jim Curtin’s men ran riot again, this time demolishing Houston Dynamo 6-0 at Subaru Park.

In-form Mikael Uhre bagging a brace, while Dániel Gazdag, Jack McGlynn, Julián Carranza and Quinn Sullivan were all also on target.

This means the Union are the first team in MLS history to score 6+ goals in multiple home matches in the same season.

Similarly, Philly are also the first club to record multiple victories by a six-goal margin in the same MLS season, both coming after they hammered D.C. United 7-0 a month ago.

So, a tall order for FC Cincinnati, the latest team challenged with stopping the beast from the east.

The Orange and Blues’ last match witnessed no fewer than eight goals, although they were evenly shared with Inter Miami.

Cincinnati equalised thrice in Fort Lauderdale, Brenner doing so twice before Brandon Vazquez made it 3-3, with the latter then putting the visitors in front for the first time with just four minutes to go.

However, the points were ultimately shared at DRV PNK Stadium with Inter Miami equalising in the seventh minute of added on time.

Pat Noonan’s men are now winless in seven matches, although six of these have ended in draws.

So, Cincinnati are ninth in the east, below the play-off line on goal difference.

MLS’ draw specialists would probably take another one here with Philadelphia favourites to win at TQL Stadium.
