Match preview

For the first time in months, LAFC are no longer top of the Supporters’ Shield standings.

On Saturday night, despite Ryan Hollingshead’s early red card, Cristian Arango fired the Black and Gold in front in first half stoppage time in Frisco.

However, LAFC could not hold on a man light, conceding twice in three minutes later on, thereby losing 2-1 to FC Dallas.

This is the first time since October LAFC have lost an MLS match when leading at any point.

More pertinently, Steve Cherundolo’s team have now lost four successive away matches, beating RSL at home in-between.

The Black and Gold remain top of the west, but are now three points below Philadelphia in the overall table, with this their game in hand.

Given LAFC’s recent road struggles, Minnesota United will fancy their chances.

The Loons though were beaten 1-0 at Portland Timbers at the weekend, so have now lost three consecutive games.

Prior to this slump, Adrian Heath’s team were in excellent form, but now sit sixth in the west and their post-season participation is under serious threat.

Who will claim a vital victory at Allianz Field?
