Following a much needed victory on Wednesday night, can New York Red Bulls secure back-to-back wins for the first time since 3 July?
In mid-week, goals from Lewis Morgan and then John Tolkin saw RBNY to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The identity of the first goalscorer should’ve come as no surprise; that’s Morgan’s fifth goal against the Five Stripes, more than against any other opponents.
Before this win in Georgia, Gerhard Struber’s side were winless in three and had only tasted victory once in six attempts.
This all but ended the Red Bulls interest at the very top of the east, but they are currently fourth, hunting down Montréal and rivals NYCFC.
FC Cincinnati meanwhile, coincidentally enough, also faced Atlanta in their last outing.
This means the Orange and Blue are unbeaten in four, only losing to Columbus since 28 May.
However, given that eight of their last 11 matches have ended all square, Pat Noonan’s team are ninth, below the play-off line on goal difference.
Will there be winner in New Jersey?
