All three meetings between these two in 2021 produced home wins, 4-1 and 3-1 to Austin and then 3-0 to Portland on Decision Day. The Texans haven’t won any of their last 14 MLS away games.

So, both trends to continue with a Timbers victory is 3/4.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score is 10/11.

Sebastián Blanco is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 21/20 to score anytime.

Sebastián Driussi has already scored three times in two appearances this year. He is 10/1 to break the deadlock and 3/1 to score anytime.

Match preview

Austin FC are top of the overall standings after two games; we all saw that coming, right?

First, Austin hammered FC Cincinnati 5-0 on opening weekend before last Sunday’s 5-1 demolition of Inter Miami, both at Q2 Stadium.

Sebastián Driussi and Ethan Finlay both bagged braces in the latter, Driussi taking his tally to three for the campaign.

On the flip side, Josh Wolff couldn’t really have asked for an easier start; two home games against the teams who finished bottom and eight-bottom last season.

Coming up, Austin face the two clubs who’ve won the last seven Western Conference Championships between them.

Here, they travel to Oregon before welcoming 2016 and 2019 MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders to Texas.

Can Austin continue their remarkable start to the campaign?

As alluded too, this should be a much tougher assignment, even if Portland Timbers have just two points to their name so far.

In week one, they held last year’s Supporters’ Shield winners New England Revs to a 2-2 draw, thanks to Yimmi Chará’s late bicycle-kick.

Then, last weekend, Chará opened the scoring with a similarly spectacular overhead-kick at Banc of California Stadium.

However, the Timbers then had Claudio Bravo sent off before conceding a 94th minute equaliser against LAFC, thereby leaving with a 1-1 draw.

In fairness to Giovanni Savarese and his team, those are two very tough games to start, so he’ll be hoping for all three points this weekend.

Which shade of green will prevail at Providence Park?
