Arsenal v West Ham Preview
Arsenal may be struggling for striking options but they are unbeaten in 15 Premier League games and welcome an out-of-sorts West Ham to the Emirates on Saturday.
Mikel Merino was the hero from the bench at Leicester last week and Mikel Arteta must decide whether to play the midfielder in attack from the off.
West Ham have won just one of their last seven Premier League games (D1 L5), beating Fulham 3-2 in Graham Potter’s first game in charge.
They start the weekend in 16th place but a healthy 10 points clear of trouble.
Arsenal v West Ham team news
Arsenal have well documented problems in attack – last weekend they started a Premier League game without any of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz for the first time since their final game of the 2020-21 season against Brighton.
That quartet remains out so Merino could start up front.
West Ham are without injured pair Lucas Paqueta and Vladimir Coufal.
Brazilian playmaker Paqueta rolled an ankle in training and full-back Coufal has not recovered from the hamstring injury that saw him miss the 1-0 home defeat to Brentford.

Arsenal v West Ham – prediction
Arsenal found a way to win at Leicester and will do so again – they lack a striker but still have far too much for this West Ham side who are showing no real signs of improvement under Potter.
Just like the old days it’s going to be 1-0 to the Arsenal.
