Will Arsenal’s 100% start to the season continue?

On Saturday evening, despite falling behind when Gabriel was caught in possession, the Gunners dug deep and fought back to beat Fulham at the Emirates.

Martin Ødegaard’s deflected shot had the Gunners on terms, before Gabriel, from villain to her, scrambled home a late winner.

The Emirates was packed to the rafters and bouncing, with Arsenal fans truly believing again in Mikel Arteta’s revolution.

Amazingly, this is the first time since Boxing 2013, against West Ham at the Boleyn Ground, that they’ve fallen behind in the second half of a Premier League game, but still managed to win.

So, coming into these mid-week fixtures, the Gunners remain top, having already beaten Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth.

Before that massive match at Old Trafford, will Arteta’s blossoming team remain top of the tree?

Things aren’t looking quite as rosy over in the Aston Villa garden.

On Sunday, the Claret and Blue army were beaten again, putting in another lifeless display as, then pointless, West Ham won 1-0 at Villa Park.

Steven Gerrard’s team did beat Everton 18 days ago, but have lost their other two outings at Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Dating back to 10 March, Villa have won just three of 15 Premier League fixtures, losing nine of them.

Given that Manchester City visit Birmingham on Saturday, things may get worse before they improve for Gerrard’s team.

Villa have only won four of their last 28 visits to Arsenal, with this ratio unlikely to look healthier after this one.
