Bournemouth vs Brighton & Hove Albion match preview

After claiming a vital victory at the weekend, can Bournemouth haul themselves further away from danger?

On Saturday, the Cherries came from a goal down to beat Fulham, with Marcus Tavernier and Dominic Solanke the scorers.

That’s now back-to-back home wins for Gary O’Neil’s team, with Bournemouth now targeting three successive Premier League home victories for the first time since February 2018.

The Cherries moved up to 16th over the weekend, seeking to open up a four-point gap between themselves and the drop zone.

South Coast rivals Brighton & Hove Albion meanwhile are chasing European qualification.

The Seagulls were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Brentford on Saturday, with Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck on target, before Alexis Mac Allister converted a stoppage time penalty.

Brighton have games in hand on all the teams in-or-around them, with this the first of those.

The Seagulls have won just two of their last 14 visits to Dean Court, but an away win seems likely here.

Bournemouth team news

Marcus Tavernier’s equaliser just four minutes after coming off the bench at the weekend could earn him a start here.

Aside from that, Gary O’Neil is set to name an unchanged line-up, with Kieffer Moore out injured.

Centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi will be hoping for his debut, while David Brooks could come on for his first home appearance in almost two years, having been cleared of hodgkin lymphoma.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Neto; Smith, Stephens, Senesi, Kelly; Tavernier, Lerma, Billing, Ouattara, Anthony; Solanke.

Brighton & Hove Albion team news

Adam Webster was only on the bench at the weekend, he’s been struggling with injury, but, if fit, he’ll return at centre-back in place of Levi Colwill.

In goal, Robert Sánchez did start the recent FA Cup win over Grimsby, but Jason Steele is firmly the number one in the Premier League now.

Fit again Danny Welbeck will continue to lead the line as Evan Ferguson picked up a knock on international duty.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Steele; Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Estupiñán; Caicedo, Groß, Mac Allister, March, Mitoma; Ferguson.
