Unai Emery will take charge of his third game inside eight days at Aston Villa when he takes his men to the AMEX to meet with a Brighton & Hove Albion side coming off their best last two weeks of the season so far.
After struggling since moving into his role on the south coast, Roberto De Zerbi has finally won a game and managed to make a stretch of positive form out of it too. The run started with a stunning 3-1 win over Chelsea, as Brighton managed to get one over on their former manager, Graham Potter. Leandro Trossard scored a goal that day, alongside two own goals.
Brighton kept up this positive form with a win over Wolves last weekend, beating the club 3-2 at Molineux to move up into sixth in the table, ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, while also being just two points adrift of Manchester United.
The Seagulls smashed Arsenal in the midweek EFL Cup clash, as they came from behind to advance through to the next stage. They became just the third club after United in the league and PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League to secure a victory over the Gunners in all competitions this season.
It’s been a topsy-turvy start for Emery as Villa manager, as he only has the games of United to decipher so far. The first went in his favour in a fantastic 3-1 win, before losing 4-2 at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup on Thursday.
