Match preview

Brighton & Hove Albion keep doing Brighton & Hove Albion things; playing beautiful football and winning matches.

Last Sunday, the Seagulls reached the FA Cup fifth round, knocking out holders Liverpool, thanks to Kaoru Mitoma’s stunning stoppage time winner.

The most surprising thing about this result was that it wasn’t at all a shock, coming just 15 days after Brighton had demolished Liverpool 3-0 in the league.

In the table, having won five of their last eight, losing just two, Roberto De Zerbi’s team are sixth, dreaming of taking Brighton into Europe for the first time ever.

Bournemouth meantime are battling against an immediate return to the Championship.

The Cherries actually fell into the drop zone for the first time all season a fortnight ago, as they could only draw 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

Before this, Gary O’Neil’s team had lost all six games, in league and cup, since the World Cup, accumulating a measly four points from the last 30 available.

Everything points towards a home win in Sussex by the Sea.

Brighton & Hove Albion team news

Alexis Mac Allister will miss this game suspended, having picked up his fifth booking of the season against Leicester.

Elsewhere in midfield, it’s unknown if Moisés Caicedo will be available for selection, having not got his move to Arsenal.

With possibly both not in the XI, Billy Gilmour will surely start for the first time since New Years’ Eve.

Midfielder Adam Lallana is injured, while teenaged striker Evan Ferguson is unlikely to play, having been on the wrong end of a horror challenge by Fabinho in the FA Cup.

Adam Webster was substituted at half time last Sunday, as he’s eased back following injury.

At the other end of the field, Kaoru Mitoma has scored six times in his last ten appearances, seeking to further improve that ratio here.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; Veltman, Webster, Dunk, Estupiñán; Gilmour, Groß, March, Sarmiento, Mitoma; Welbeck.

Bournemouth team news

Since their last game, Bournemouth have been busy in the transfer market.

Left-back Matías Viña, centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi, wingers Hamed Traorè and Dango Ouattara as well as striker Antoine Semenyo all joined the club in January.

Dango Ouattara did start against Nottingham Forest, but will Gary O’Neil hand a debut to any of the other new recruits here?

Unless Semenyo is thrown in, Kieffer Moore will continue to lead the attack, with Dominic Solanke sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Neto; Smith, Senesi, Kelly, Zemura; Lerma, Billing, Christie, Anthony, Ouattara; Moore.
