Match Preview

Everton face Manchester United for the final time at Goodison Park when they meet in the Premier League on Saturday.

At the start of the season, no one would have believed that by the end of February, the Toffees would have the chance to move four points ahead the Red Devils in the table.

But that is the reality for both sides, with the Merseyside club flying under David Moyes and Ruben Amorim still struggling to make an impact in Manchester.

A loss last time out to Tottenham has put serious pressure on United, who can slip as low as 16th by the end of the weekend.

Everton meanwhile can climb as high as 12th and 16 points clear of the relegation zone.

They have lost just one of their last five games, which includes a well-deserved draw against rivals Liverpool.

With there only being a handful of games left at Goodison Park, each match is being savoured by fans, turning the stadium into a cauldron of noise as a result.

If Amorim and Co are to get a result, they will have to perform much better than they have been for the majority of the season so far.

Everton vs Manchester United team news

Amorim is hoping to welcome back a few first-team players to the fold ahead of the short trip to Merseyside.

The Red Devils were without 12 during the loss to Tottenham, but defender Leny Yoro and goalkeeper Altay Bayindir are expected to return.

Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Toby Collyer and Jonny Evans are touch and go for the match but could make the cut by passing late fitness tests.

However, the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount will not feature.

Everton have problems of their own, with Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin closing in on a return but not quite being fit enough to feature.

Nathan Patterson could return, depending on whether Moyes feels he is ready.

Iliman Ndiaye will be absent in what is a big blow for the Toffees after picking up a knee injury.

Everton vs Manchester United prediction

Everything points to another Everton win this weekend with United really struggling to build any sort of momentum.

Injuries and a lack of familiarity between the manager’s tactics and players presents the Toffees with a big opportunity to make their mark and condemn the Red Devils to more misery.

We are backing Everton to pick up three points here.
