Could Everton really suffer top-flight relegation for the first time since 1951?
When the Blues last went down George VI was on the throne and the end of post-war rationing was still another three years away in the U.K.
On Sunday, the Toffees put in another bleak and lifeless performance in a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
This means Frank Lampard’s side have now lost four in a row without scoring while Everton have lost eight of their last nine in total.
Everton’s current tally of 22 points from 26 games is their lowest at this stage of any season in the club’s 144 year history.
So, after other results went against them last weekend, Everton are now only outside the relegation zone on goal difference with Burnley also just a point behind.
The Blues still have to play West Ham (A), Man United (H), Liverpool (A), Chelsea (H), Leicester (A) and Arsenal (A) so it certainly doesn’t get any easier.
Thus, despite the fact they’ll have 11 games to go after this one, failure to win here could be catastrophic.
Newcastle United, of course, were also in a horrendous position not so long ago but have hauled themselves away from the drop zone.
Between 19 December and 10 March, Eddie Howe’s men were unbeaten, winning six of their nine matches, jumping from 19th to 14th.
The Toon Army’s unbeaten streak did eventually come to an end of Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 at Chelsea, conceding at the last minute.
Although, goal-scorer Kai Havertz could’ve been sent off for an elbow on Dan Burn, while Jacob Murphy was denied an extremely clear penalty.
Newcastle are now three places and nine points clear of their hosts, needing just another win to almost certainly guarantee survival.
But, obviously, the story is Everton so will the home side claim a vital victory at Goodison Park?

Frank Lampard is short of trustworthy defensive options; Yerry Mina is out long-term while Jonjoe Kenny’s red card on Sunday means he is suspended.
Vitaliy Mykolenko and Séamus Coleman could be the full-backs with Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey in the middle of a back four.
Michael Keane is the only other centre-back option but he was left on the bench at the weekend after a string of underwhelming displays.
Nathan Patterson, who arrived from Rangers for £12 million in January, can’t even get on the bench right now.
Donny van de Beek has already started more Premier League games in two months at Everton than he did in 18 months at Manchester United.
He could continue alongside Abdoulaye Doucouré with Allan likely to return if Lampard changes from a back five to a four.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will return if fit, alongside Richarlison, looking for his first goal since 28 August, back when his side were in the top four.

Newcastle’s recent form is mightily impressive given that Kieran Trippier, Isaac Hayden, Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have been out.
Although, Saint-Maximin did return with a 20 minute substitute cameo at the weekend so could come back into the XI here.
Joelinton has missed the last two games but this has allowed big-money arrival Bruno Guimarães to come into the side.
Ryan Fraser has previously scored four times against Everton, more than against anyone else he’s faced in his career.
