Manchester United will look to get back in the Premier League win column after returning to winning ways against Aston Villa in midweek just four days after Unai Emery’s side beat them at Villa Park as Erik ten Hag’s men head to Fulham.
With this being the last game before the World Cup for the Premier League, it will be interesting to see how United line up with Cristiano Ronaldo missing the game in midweek. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both got on the scoresheet in the 4-2 win over Villa, as Scott McTominay made it four with tidy finish from a sensational Alejandro Garnacho pass. Bruno Fernandes bagged the other goal.
Last weekend, however, ten Hag’s side struggled from the off as his men went 2-0 down inside the first 15 minutes. An own goal brought things level, but as the game finished 3-1 to Villa, United stayed in fifth and will now need to overturn a dramatic goals difference and hope over results go in their favour if they are to head into the top four before the break.
As for Fulham they remain ninth and are likely to finish inside the top 10, as long as Brentford doesn’t beat Manchester City at the Etihad, which remains unlikely. A loss would make it six for the season from 10 games for the Cottagers, but they are likely to stay in ninth and they themselves were at the Etihad last weekend and were brutally unlucky not to get a point as Erling Haaland scored a 95th-minute penalty.
