Sixth-placed Fulham will have a massive test on their hands when they meet with a Newcastle United team with an awful lot to prove right now and with just one defeat on the board after seven games this Premier League season.
The Magpies have been quite dodgy this campaign, and for all the plaudits Eddie How is getting, his side still sit with just one win so far and five draws. In fact, worse yet, their sole victory came all the way back at the start of the campaign as they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0.
Newcastle did manage to get a commendable draw against Manchester City not too long ago, but with them blowing a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3, fans left St. James’ Park disappointed back in the middle of August. Newcastle also have a lot to prove with their goalscoring ability – Howe’s men have netted just eight times this season.
As for Fulham, it’s been one of their best-ever starts to a Premier League season as they sit one point clear of west London rivals Chelsea and one behind the in-form Manchester United. The Cottagers have also scored 12 goals so far this season, letting in an alarming 11, however.
Aleksandar Mitrović will be facing off against his old side here too, and he comes into this game with six Premier League goals after seven games, as well a missed penalty against Wolves that could have rocketed Fulham up into fourth right now. Regardless, the Serbian is proving all doubters wrong as he sits level with Harry Kane right now.
Fulham will need to turn up here, as the Magpies must win before the pressure begins to creep up on Eddie Howe.
