Fulham are into the top 10 after a sensational win in their return to Premier League action as the complete opposite happened with Southampton with them now sitting bottom of the league table after a loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Over the past few seasons, Southampton have been getting worse and worse. Now, as we enter 2023, the Saints are in 20th and fears of relegation are as strong as they’ve ever been for the St Mary’s faithful.
James Ward-Prowse did get another goal for Southampton last time out against the Seagulls, as his excellent form continues to be the only shining light for the club. However, by this point, his side were already 3-0 down.
As for Fulham, they eased past Crystal Palace with a 3-0 win against their London rivals, as Bobby Reid and Tim Ream netted in a fantastic display for the Cottagers. Aleksandar Mitrovic also scored for his side to make it 3-0 and 10 goals in 13 games for him in the Premier League so far.
Fulham are now in ninth and the highest they have been at the midway stage of a Premier League season in many years. Southampton, however, now have to make up a two-point gap just to get out of the relegation zone.
