Crysencio Summerville’s last-minute winner at Anfield earned Jesse Marsch a vital three points last week, giving the American some breathing space amid huge speculation around his future.

It came after an eight-game winless run that saw Leeds drop into the bottom three after a summer of transfer activity that promised an improved season, and their disappointing start to the season saw Marsch as well as the club board come under intense scrutiny, only for the win over Liverpool to boost morale.

The win catapulted Leeds up to 15th in the league table, and with a home game against Bournemouth to come, Leeds can again have realistic hopes of heading into the World Cup break in mid-table.

However games against sides such as Bournemouth are what have tripped Leeds up so far this season, with wins against Chelsea and Liverpool offset by defeats to the likes of Brentford, Fulham, Leicester and Crystal Palace.

It could be a struggle for Marsch’s men once again, with his side so far this season struggling to break down teams who sit deep and hit on the counter, but with increased confidence in the squad they will fancy their chances of claiming another three points.

They have steadily dropped down the league and while they are still one point ahead of Saturday’s opponents, they appear to be a side on the way down and will head to Elland Road looking to reverse a run of form that sees them looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
