Match preview

Liverpool welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Monday for this Premier League match.

The Reds come into this match after a run of 19 league games undefeated carried over from last season. Liverpool shared the points in their last league match away to Fulham, in a four-goal thriller. The final score of the match was 2-2.

They had four big chances to Fulham’s one in the game and will feel they could have got more from the game based on that statistic. However, even manager Jurgen Klopp was keen to emphasise his side hadn’t played that well and after needing to twice come from behind, were maybe even lucky to get a point.

Injuries have been the talk of the fans this week with concern over how thin the squad is starting to look due to injuries, particularly in midfield.

Thiago Alcantara (hamstring), Calvin Ramsay, Naby Keita (illness), Curtis Jones (calf), Ibrahima Konate (knee), Caoimhin Kelleher, Kostas Tsimikas, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring) and Diogo Jota (hamstring) are all expected to miss this match for Liverpool.

The Eagles come into this match on a run of two away league games without a win. It is a rough start to the season for Vieira’s boys having to face Arsenal and Liverpool in back to back games. Crystal Palace lost their last league match at home to Arsenal. The final score of the match was 0-2.

Cheick Doucoure (thigh) had to come off 15 minutes from time against the Gunners. Luka Milivojevic replaced him and is expected to start here if Doucoure hasn’t recovered in time.

James Tomkins (calf), Michael Olise (foot), Jack Butland (finger) and James McArthur (groin) are also expected to miss this match for Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace are otherwise expected to name largely the same side as last weekend despite having lost against Arsenal.
