The champions are back in action this Saturday afternoon as Crystal Palace head to the Etihad where Manchester City head into the game with vengeance after dropping two points away to Newcastle United last weekend.
City were really put to the test at St. James’ Park last time out, and despite taking the lead through Ilkay Gundogan after five minutes, a resilient Newcastle managed to snatch a point after an incredible amount of pressure in attack from Pep Guardiola’s men in the final 20 minutes.
Erling Haaland got his third Premier League goal that day, as Kevin De Bruyne’s exquisite pass to Bernardo Silva snatched a point from 3-1 down. It does, however, now mean City have conceded three goals and scored nine after previously boasting a record of six goals and zero let in after a win over West Ham United and Bournemouth.
Palace, however, are on a two-game winning run now and Patrick Vieira has put down an early marker for Manager of the Month after getting a draw at Anfield too. Wilfried Zaha is continuing to be the main man for the Eagles, as his two goals against Aston Villa and opener against Liverpool put him in contention for Player of the Month.
Vieira’s side also eased past Oxford United in the league last time out as well, and after beating Villa 2-1 and drawing with Liverpool, only the loss to Arsenal on the opening day dampens what has otherwise been an excellent start to 2022/23.
City are back at home, however, which usually means they’ll get the job done. Palace did win 2-0 at the Etihad last season in the midst of a rough patch for Guardiola’s men, but with Haaland leading the line, the champions should have more than enough to get all three points.
