Match Preview

Manchester United will be looking to build on their late comeback at Everton when they welcome struggling Ipswich on Wednesday evening.

United were all at sea for an hour at Goodison Park but goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte – and a late VAR decision – saw them scramble a point.

Ruben Amorim’s side do go into the midweek fixtures languishing in 15th place, however.

Ipswich last won a league game at Old Trafford way back in 1984 but with United losing seven home games already this season may fancy their chances.

Manchester United v Ipswich team news

United manager Amorim said on Tuesday that he did not expect any of his injured players to return. That leaves an absentee list of Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad.
Ipswich, managed by former United coach Kieran McKenna, are waiting on midfielders Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste after both picked up knocks against Tottenham last time out. Axel Tuanzebe is available after suspension but forward Julio Enciso is out with a knee injury.

Prediction

United’s torrid season couldn’t get worse – could it?

Ipswich were taken apart by Spurs at the weekend and have kept just one clean sheet in their last 24 Premier League away games. A result that would please nobody at all is a 1-1 draw – so let’s go for that.
