[RECOMMENDED_BETS]

Newcastle to win and BTTS – 4/1 (bet365)

Newcastle will fancy a third win on the bounce, while Crystal Palace have only failed to score three times since Christmas – two games of whom were against Chelsea and Manchester City.

Over 1.5 Newcastle goals & Conor Gallagher to be carded – 27/5 (888Sport)

Conor Gallagher has seen 10 yellow cards in 35 matches so far this season, and is without one for five matches so is due a booking and Newcastle will fancy themselves to score more than once.

Match preview

Bruno Guimaraes’ double in the win over Leicester on Sunday hinted at a promising future for himself and Newcastle in the Premier League, with their safety all but secured after climbing to 37 points and putting them 12 clear of the bottom three.

A lot had been expected of the Brazilian midfielder since his January arrival from Lyon and while it took him a while to settle in, he looks to be hitting his stride and offering a glimpse of the future in a box-to-box midfield role alongside Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton that could help take the Magpies to the next level.

One team they could overtake is Crystal Palace, who head to St James Park on the back of a disheartening FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Patrick Vieira must ensure his side don’t drop away after such a promising season, with virtually nothing left to play for following the disappointment of missing out on the cup final showpiece.

While they are level on points with Newcastle, they have games against Leeds, Southampton and Aston Villa still to play so they could easily find themselves overhauled by sides in similar positions to themselves this season, or secure a place in the top 10.

Newcastle United team news

Javi Manquillo is the only fitness question for Eddie Howe ahead of the visit of Palace.

The defender is struggling with illness so will be assessed, but Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, Isaac Hayden, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis are long-term absentees.

Crystal Palace team news

Conor Gallagher will return to the team after missing the FA Cup semi-final against parent club Chelsea.

His return will compensate for the absence of Luca Milivojevic and Nathan Ferguson, who are both nursing thigh problems.
