A potentially decisive night for Southampton.
Win and they’re right back in the hunt to stay up; lose and their 11-year stay in the top-flight will almost certainly be coming to an end.
On Friday night, the Saints came agonisingly close to a vital victory away at league-leaders Arsenal.
Carlos Alcaraz scored after just 30 seconds, Theo Walcott made it 2-0 not long after before Duje Ćaleta-Car restored their two-goal cushion in the second half.
However, the Saints could not hold on for victory with Arsenal scoring twice in the last minute, snatching a 3-3 draw.
As a result, Rubén Sellés’ team are without a win in seven, only claiming victory in three of 21 outings since a win at Bournemouth in mid-October.
Most predicted that Bournemouth would be the side in last place before a ball was kicked, but they are up in 15th, five points clear of the bottom three.
Gary O’Neil’s side won three of their first four fixtures in April, beating Fulham, Leicester and then Tottenham, the latter courtesy of Dango Ouattara’s curler in the 96th minute.
However, on Sunday, the Cherries came crashing back down to earth, smashed 4-0 by West Ham, suffering their heaviest defeat at Dean Court since December 2018.
Now though, if Bournemouth are able to claim a victory over their South Coast rivals, they’d be on the cusp of safety.
Southampton have won their last three meetings with the Cherries, not conceding in any of them, desperately needing another victory in this one at St Mary’s.

Jan Bednarek suffered a heavy landing on his neck on Friday night so, if he’s not available, Duje Ćaleta-Car will continue to deputise.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles wasn’t eligible to face his former club but could return at right-back, with Kyle Walker-Peters back on the left.
Up front, Ché Adams was the match-winner in the reverse fixture, but he remains sidelined.

Following Sunday’s heavy defeat, don’t be surprised if Gary O’Neil rings the changes.
This could involved reverting to a back four with Matías Viña, who opened the scoring at Spurs, coming in at left-back, while fit again Marcos Senesi is also likely to return.
The match-winner at Tottenham Dango Ouattara could start out-wide, while Kieffer Moore came off the bench at half time at the weekend, his first appearance in five games due to injury.
Adam Smith would miss their next two games, against Leeds and Chelsea, if booked.
