It’s a Premier League classic as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool do battle in north London off the back of famous wins each in the Champions League that saw the Lilywhites top their group and Liverpool finish second.
The wins were quite contrasting, however, as Spurs needed just one point to get past Marseille and ended up going a goal behind in the game too. Clement Lenglet got his first goal for the club on his 50th Champions League appearance, before another excellent goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stole all three points in what is turning out to be his best season in his career to date.
Spurs have been a bit dodgy this past month, however, losing to both Newcastle United and Manchester United before scraping past Bournemouth 3-2 after going 2-0 down. They also edged past Marseille, of course, while they drew 1-1 with Sporting Lisbon in Europe after also going a goal down in that one too.
Liverpool managed to become the first and only team so far to beat Napoli in all competitions, as they defeated the Serie A giants at Anfield thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. The Reds did need to wait until the 85th minute to get off the mark, however, as Nunez netted in the 98th minute of the game.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are on a losing run of two games in the Premier League, with defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United within the past two weeks. It makes this one even more important after such an impressive win over Napoli.
