Match preview

It’s another Midlands derby this weekend in the Premier League as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City come into this game both sitting in the relegation zone in what has been their worst starts to a Premier League season since earning promotion years back.

In fact, Wolves have been so poor this season that their five goals scored in the Premier League mean they are currently in the midst of their worst-ever goalscoring form at this point in a league season in the 133-year history of the club. The Midlands outfit now sit with just two wins all season long and with seven losses on the board. Their defensive record – just like in recent seasons – remains impressive with only 14 goals let in.

Nevertheless, with Bruno Lage being the second manager to get sacked within two seasons at Molineux, the Wolves faithful will be eager to see some improvement this weekend, or we could be set for a long season that sees Wolves in a genuine relegation fight.

As for Leicester, they have egded closer to getting out of the relegation zone in recent weeks, having drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace, before Harvey Barnes scored a goal in a 2-0 win over Leeds United on Thursday. It now puts the Foxes on eight points and just one behind Aston Villa in the safe zone of the league.

Quite incredibly, Leicester have still managed to score 17 times in the league this season, which is two more than fourth-placed Chelsea, despite their being 13 places between the two. With 24 goals let in, however, they have the worst defensive record in the league.
