Match preview

After seeing their FA Cup dreams go up in flames on Wednesday night, can Tottenham Hotspur get back on track?

In mid-week, Spurs were dumped out the cup by a heavily-rotated Sheffield United, with the only goal coming 11 minutes from time.

Last Friday was the 15-year anniversary of Tottenham’s last trophy lift, with that 5,487 day draught set to continue for many more months.

Before that defeat at Bramall Lane, Cristian Stellini boasted a 100% record as a Head Coach, winning all seven matches, three at Inter and four with Spurs, when stepping in for Antonio Conte.

Under Stellini, they have won their last two league matches, beating West Ham and then Chelsea both 2-0.

This has seen Spurs climb back into fourth for the first time since early-November, very much hoping to remain in that position.

Julen Lopetegui’s team rarely threatened all night, and scoring goals continues to be a big problem for them.

Since Lopetegui took over, Wolves have won four of ten games, despite only netting ten times, three of which came in the drubbing of Liverpool.

The Wanderers do kick off in 15th but, given that they’re only three points clear of danger, are far from safe yet.

Spurs are unbeaten in seven visits to Molineux, their sole defeat there in the last 42 years coming in 2010.

Will either team spark into life in the Black Country?

Wolverhampton Wanderers team news

Matheus Cunha went off injured at Craven Cottage last weekend so, without him, Raúl Jiménez will lead the line.

No Wolves striker has scored a goal for over a year, dating back to when Hwang Hee-chan broke the deadlock in a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on 24 February 2022.

João Moutinho was drafted into midfield for Wednesday’s trip to Anfield, but winger Daniel Podence could come in here.

Pedro Neto is being eased back into action, with his last start coming on 17 September due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): José Sá; Semedo, Dawson, Kilman, Bueno; Lemina, Neves, Nunes; Sarabia, Podence, Jiménez.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

Harry Kane was controversially left on the bench on Wednesday, with Lucas Moura included in an XI for the first time since November’s win in Marseille.

Alongside Kane and Dejan Kuluševski, Richarlsion could start here, still seeking his first league goal of the season, with Son Heung-min left out.

In the continued absence of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp will return in midfield, displacing Pape Matar Sarr.

At the back, Emerson and Cristian Romero will be back in, with Davinson Sánchez and big-money January signing Pedro Porro making way.

Frasrer Forster will continue to deputise for the injured Hugo Lloris, having conceded three in his only previous league outing at Molineux.

Predicted XI (5-2-3): Forster; Emerson, Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Davies; Højbjerg, Skipp; Kuluševski, Richarlison, Kane.
