Will Celtic all but secure an 11th title in 12 seasons, or will Rangers keep alive their slim hopes of wrestling back the trophy?

Celtic come into this clash nine point clear at the top, the exact gap they have boasted since 12 November.

Last weekend, the Hoops’ winning streak continued, eventually battling to a 2-0 victory over Ross County, with Jota and then Alexandro Bernabei scoring in the respective injury times.

The former was a penalty, while the latter was an absolute screamer.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have now won ten successive Premiership matches, accumulating 67 points from the last 69 available.

In this period, the Celts have also defeated Rangers in the League Cup Final, with the two set to reconvene at Hampden for a Scottish Cup semi later this month.

Thus, Rangers simply have to win, desperate to claim their first league win in an Old Firm since August 2021.

Under Mick Beale, the Light Blues have won 20 of 22 fixtures, most-recently beating Dundee United 2-0 a week ago.

Malik Tillman the scorer of both on that one.

However, the two games Beale has failed to win have both been Glasgow derbies, only managing a 2-2 draw at Ibrox in January, before that aforementioned cup final defeat.

So, despite winning every single game against everybody else, the Gers have been unable to cut the nine point gap at the top, so really need to do just that here.

Ange Postecoglou does have a few injury concerns coming into this one.

Midfielders Aaron Mooy and Reo Hatate both missed last Sunday’s trip to the Highlands, with Mooy potentially in contention to feature, while Hatate defiantly won’t make it.

Also, during that game, Greg Taylor hobbled off injured so, if he’s out, Alexandro Bernabei will be given a rare start.

In attack, Jota is set to continue on the right, given that Liel Abada a doubt, while Daizen Maeda and Kyōgo Furuhashi, who both scored at Ibrox in January, completing the attack.

Centre-backs Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have still never lost a Premiership match when starting together, that’s 43 games and counting.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, O’Riley, Mooy; Jota, Maeda, Kyōgo.

With Nicolas Raskin a doubt, Malik Tillman, scorer of a double last weekend, could keep his place in midfield.

Todd Cantwell made his Old Firm debut at Hampden in February but, after failing to impress, Fashion Sakala is likely to return out-wide.

Alfredo Morelos got the goal in the League Cup Final, so could get the nod over Antonio Čolak in attack.

Ben Davies is set to partner Connor Goldson at the back, with John Souttar only just back after another long-term injury.

Jon McLaughlin was in goal when Rangers were smashed 4-0 at Parkhead in September, but Allan McGregor will feature in a 41st Old Firm here.

The 41 year old has saved a penalty against Celtic in three different decades, but will be hoping for, if not expecting, a quieter afternoon this time.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barišić; Jack, Lundstram, Sakala, Tillman, Kent; Morelos.
