Match preview

For the second time this season, Dundee United and Aberdeen are set for a Saturday night spectacular at Tannadice.

Back in October, the two also met at 6 o’clock on a Saturday night, with United claiming their first victory of the season that night, demolishing the Dons 4-0.

However, given what’s going on right now, a repeat seems very unlikely.

Dundee United started the week without a manager or a director of football, after both Liam Fox and then Tony Asghar were sacked.

That’s because, on the park, the Tangerines have taken just one point from their last seven outings, smashed 4-0 by Ross County last weekend.

Some of the Arab’s defending in Dingwall was unbelievable, boarding on comical, especially for County’s opener.

On Wednesday, they did unveil a new manager, none other than Jim Goodwin, who will take on the club that sacked him just 34 days ago.

As for Aberdeen, they leapfrogged Livingston into sixth last weekend, by beating Livi 1-0 at Pittodrie; Bojan Miovski with a thunderous volley.

Barry Robson has now won two of four matches in charge, the other victory also coming at home against Motherwell.

On the road, the Reds have been awful all season, accumulating just seven points from 13 fixtures, losing all eight away matches, in league and cup, since 22 October.

So, could this be the ideal fixture for Dundee United, as Goodwin targets three crucial points against his recent employers?
