Given this, St Johnstone, who currently sit in the relegation play-off place, are looking up as oppose to down.

Callum Davidson’s side seemed doomed not so long ago, but then won back-to-back games, beating Motherwell and Livingston at home.

However, a fortnight ago the Saints were demolished 7-0 at Celtic Park, so cannot let that result shatter their rebuilt confidence.

A win here for the Saints would all but relegation Dundee and could move them to within three points of St Mirren and Aberdeen who are just above.

Charlie Adam’s long-range strike in the derby last weekend was his first Scottish Premiership goal since 1 March 2008 for Rangers against Aberdeen.

He’ll continue to captain his boyhood club from midfield with their other derby scorer, Danny Mullen, leading the line.

Callum Davidson’s squad has been ravaged by injuries this season, although the treatment room is clearing now.

The Saints are still without David Wotherspoon and Craig Bryson as well as star striker Chris Kane.

But, Zander Clark and Shaun Rooney are back now, with Callum Hendry continuing to lead the line in Kane’s absence.
