Match preview

After claiming a much-needed victory on Sunday, can Hibernian start to climb the table?

Last weekend, Hibs won a five-goal thriller at Fir Park, ousting Motherwell 3-2.

Kevin Nisbet bagging a hat-trick in North Lanarkshire, just the second treble of his top-flight career.

That was a massive victory for Lee Johnson, as his side had lost nine of their previous 11 matches, including a 3-0 hammering in the Edinburgh derby.

That victory though saw Hibs climb up to seventh, now just two points adrift the potential European places.

With a second derby coming up in the Scottish Cup next Sunday, the Hibees will be desperate for another victory here.

The Tangerines were also in action on Sunday, but were beaten 2-0 by Rangers, with the goals coming less than three minutes apart.

Before this, Liam Fox’s team had enjoyed back-to-back victories, beating Ross County and St Johnstone, thereby climbing off the bottom of the table.

The latter, coming in the Tayside derby, was the Arab’s first away victory of the season, but they did win 1-0 when Hibs visited Tannadice in mid-October.

So, this clash at Easter Road is tough to call.
