Match preview

After another European reality check on Thursday night, will Heart of Midlothian get back to winning ways?

In mid-week, Hearts were dismantled by Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League.

I Viola led after just four minutes at Tynecastle, eventually prevailing 3-0, with Lewis Neilson sent off right at the start of the second half.

This leaves the Jambos on three points, having beaten RFS 2-0, but been hammered 4-0 by İstanbul Başakşehir.

So, Robbie Neilson’s side will need results in Florence and İstanbul to get through which, given the home results, isn’t likely.

In broader terms, it’s been a terrible week for Hearts who were dismantled 4-0 by Rangers last weekend, with Cammy Devlin sent off in that game.

Kilmarnock enjoyed their mid-week outing far more, beating St Johnstone 2-1 at home.

Daniel Armstrong’s brace doing the damage as Killie won for just the second time since returning to the Premiership.

Derek McInnes’ side did beat Hearts in the League Cup in Gorgie last month, so will be hoping for something similar at Rugby Park.
