Can Heart of Midlothian address their alarming drop off in form?

Last weekend, Hearts were beaten 2-1 at McDiarmid Park by then bottom of the table St Johnstone.

This means the Jambos are now winless in four Premiership matches, drawing the Edinburgh derby and subsequently losing three on the bounce.

Robbie Neilson’s men remain third, nine points clear of Hibs, but can’t continue this form if they want to end in that position.

As for St Mirren, this game begins a new era.

Stephen Robinson was appointed as the new manager last week after a successful spell with Motherwell, leaving Morecambe to come to Paisley.

But, despite the change of management, don’t think the Buddies are in bad form, far from it.

Jim Goodwin was poached by Aberdeen and he leaves behind a side unbeaten in six league games, accumulating 14 points in this period.

So, in 2022, St Mirren have escaped the relegation battle and are now chasing European football for the first time in 34 years.

Charlie Dunne’s red card in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Livingston means he is suspended.

At the other end of the pitch, with Eamonn Brophy injured, Alex Greive will continue to lead the line.

For the visitors, Liam Boyce missed last weekend’s game due to illness but should be back for this one.
