Match preview

After defeat to one set of saints last Sunday, will Rangers avoid a strong sense of déjà vu in Paisley.

Last weekend, despite mustering 29 shots, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team were beaten 2-1 at McDiarmid Park by St Johnstone.

This saw the Gers slip further behind in the title race, with Celtic moving seven points clear.

So then, on Wednesday night, many were suggesting van Bronckhorst’ job was on the line, as Hearts visited Ibrox.

It was a tense night, but Malik Tillman’s first-time finish mid-way through the second half snatched all the points for the Light Blue.

This has, for now, eased the pressure, but it’ll all be back, and more, if Rangers fail to win this one.

Stephen Robinson’s side were third not so long ago but, having accumulated just five points from their last six, are down in eighth.

Can St Mirren spring a surprise at the SMISA Stadium?
