The champions are back in action with two more games left before the World Cup break as AC Milan look to close the gap on the league leaders Napoli in Serie A when they play hosts to Spezia at the San Siro this Saturday night.
Milan have not had the season they hoped for in their title defence, as they now head into this game off the back of their second loss in Italy when Torino beat them 2-1. It also comes almost two months after losing to Napoli, meaning they now trail the Naples outfit by six points in the top flight.
Milan did have a great night in the Champions League on Wednesday, however, defeating RB Salzburg 4-0 thanks to a brace from Olivier Giroud once more. After the misery of last season’s European journey, Milan are now into the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade.
Spezia remain down in 16th after two recent losses in Serie A ever since beating Brescia 3-1 in the second round of the Coppa Italia. The struggling Serie A side lost to Salernitana 1-0 before a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina on home soil.
Spezia also have just two wins in the league so far, and with the worst defensive record for those sitting outside of the drop zone with 22 goals conceded, it’s tough to see how they get past a Milan side with 25 goals already on the board from 12 games.
