Match preview
Both Fiorentina and Hellas Verona will be looking to jump into the top half of Serie A after seven games when they meet with the Artemio Franchi Stadium this Sunday afternoon with the away side finally registering a win.
This season has been far from promising for both Fiorentina and Verona so far. In fact, both teams have just one win on their record so far, with the away side heading to Florence with just one more goal scored than Fiorentina. At the same time, however, Verona have also lost one more game, with the home outfit registering an extra draw.
What’s worse for Fiorentina heading into this one is how they just lost to Bologna, in what was their first win of the Serie A season. Lucas Quarta scored in the second half to give his side the lead that day, before two Bologna goals snatched all three points. Igor Julio was also sent off deep into stoppage time and now misses this game.
Verona managed to register their sole win of the season when they met with the relegation-sitting Sampdoria. An own goal equalised for the club that day, before Josh Doig netted the winning goal with seconds left in the first half.
Lazio also beat the club in the last game 2-0, which did end a two-game unbeaten run for Gabriele Cioffi’s side. Now up against a Fiorentina side struggling for any sort of consistency, it could be an early season-defining result for either team.
