Match preview

The unbeaten Atalanta will be looking to jump to the top of the table when they meet with Fiorentina in Bergamo on Sunday afternoon with the club in search of win number six this campaign as Fiorentina aims to rocket further into the top half.

With all the talk surrounding AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus this season, it’s Atalanta who have managed to steal many of the headlines with their unbeaten start to the season. So far, the club boast of the best defensive record in the league thus far, conceding only three goals – this is five fewer than champions Milan and three fewer than the league leaders Napoli.

Atalanta got a sensational win away to Roma last time out, as Giorgio Scalvini scored the winning goal in Rome in a 1-0 win from the club’s only shot on target that game in a match largely dominated by Jose Mourinho’s men.

It was Atalanta’s biggest win of the season, as they only managed to beat Torino, Hellas Verona, Monza and Sampdoria prior to this. A further draw with Cremonese stalled their early charge to the top of the table, but by also drawing with Milan, there is plenty to shout about for them so far.

As for Fiorentina, they defeated Hellas Verona in the last game 1-0, which ended a run of two games in the losing column as they lost to Bologna 2-1 and Istanbul Basaksehir 3-0. It does not bode well for them heading to the ground where a genuine title charge looks to be on the cards after beating Roma.
