Match preview

In line with the theme of Serie A this weekend, two sides right by one another meet in a must-win battle if Bologna or Lecce are to get closer to the top half of the table ahead of the break for the World Cup in a few weeks time as 17th play hosts to 16th.

It took Bologna quite a while to get off the mark in Serie A, despite Marko Arnautovic scoring six goals in the first six game. Fast forward to gameweek 11 this weekend, and the club head into the clash with Lecce just one point below them in the table and only two above the relegation zone. What’s more, both sides have just one victory on the board and they could find themselves inside the drop zone if other results go against them.

Bologna did also manage to advance in the Coppa Italia last time out, as Adam Obert netted an own goal for Cagliari. The Serie A side also had eight shots on target that day and didn’t concede any of their own. Nevertheless, they once again struggled in front of goal and come into this league battle with just 10 goals scored in 10 games.

As for Lecce, Lecce have managed to turn things around in recent week, drawing 1-1 five times, as they took a point of Empili, Napoli, Monza, Cremonese and Fiorentina last weekend. A loss to Torino and another defeat to Roma came in this time too, but with a 2-1 win over Salernitana, they have now lost just once in their past eight games.
