Cremonese will be aiming to get their first Serie A win of the season when they play hosts to Lazio at the Giovanni Zini Stadium this weekend just as Maurizio Sarri’s men look to rocket themselves into the European spots.
It’s been an up and down season for the Rome side so far in 2022/23. They have looked promising in the Europa League as Sarri looks to win the competition for a second time after doing so with Chelsea a few years back. Back in Serie A, however, all three of their wins after six games have been met with dropped points and Sarri will be eager to see his side win two in a row for the first time in Italy this campaign.
Lazio beat Hellas Verona in the last game as Ciro Immobile got his third goal of the season, just as Luis Alberto scored once again in what has been a tremendous campaign for him so far. Just prior to this, however, Lazio lost to Napoli and drew with the winless Sampdoria
Cremonese will take great confidence from that result for Sampdoria against Lazio, with Massimiliano Alvini’s side also winless in Serie A. The club did get a commendable draw in Bergamo last time out, as they snatched a point off Atalanta which also saw them move off top spot in Serie A as a result.
Nevertheless, with 10 goals conceded and just five scored themselves, it’s hard to see how Cremonese get the result they need here to jump out of the bottom three so early on. Lazio should win here, and anything but all three points could be concerning for Sarri’s future in Rome.
