The winless Cremonese have another almighty task ahead of them before the World Cup break as they meet with AC Milan on home soil with the club still in the relegation zone with the champions in second right now.
It’s been a crazy season at the top end of Serie A in 2022/23, with Napoli having a six-point gap on the champions in second. Milan also see Lazio and Atalanta right behind them in the top four, as Juventus have now moved into fifth and sit four points behind the San Siro side after they beat Inter Milan.
Milan have managed to bounce back quite well from their loss to Torino that forced the six-point gap on Napoli, with the club beating RB Salzburg in the Champions League 4-0, before a 2-1 victory over Spezia over the weekend. Theo Hernandez squeezed a goal in that day, before Olivier Giroud bagged the winner. The Frenchman was, however, sent off immediately after the goal for a second yellow after taking his shirt off – he now misses this game.
Cremonese have continued their winless run in Serie A and they remain the only side across Europe’s top five leagues still yet to get a win this season in the league. A 4-2 win over Modena in the Coppa Italia is all they have to boast about in the past month, but they did managed to draw 2-2 with Salernitana over the weekend.
Combine this with their 0-0 draw with Udinese and it now means the club are three points adrift of Spezia in the safe spots of Serie A.
