Two sides in the bottom half of the table will meet here as Sassuolo and Empoli clash in Serie A with the aims of charging towards the top half of the division ahead of the World Cup break coming at the end of next weekend.
Sassuolo, despite sitting 11th in the table, have had a tough time in the past month. They did manage to hammer Salernitana 5-0 at the start of October, but by losing to Inter Milan 2-1 straight after and then 2-1 to Atalanta in the next game, they have barely laid a hand on the top half this season.
Sassuolo would return to winning ways after a two-game losing run two weeks back, when they beat Hellas Verona 2-1. However, by losing 4-0 to Napoli where Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick in Naples, Alessio Dionisi’s men remain in 11th and one point behind 10th-placed Salernitana.
Empoli are in 14th, however, and have had a similar ride throughout the past month. The club were dismantled by Juventus 4-0 two weeks ago, not long after Empoli managed to secure a 1-0 win onver Monza which moved them up the table. The club would then lose to Atalanta in the last game, losing to the Bergamo side on home soil 2-0.
If either of these sides want to be in the top 10 before the World Cup break, a victory here is a must.
