16th meets 18th in Serie A this Monday evening as Hellas Verona welcomes Salernitana to the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium with the two sides still separated by an almighty points difference despite the improved form from the home club.
The bottom three of Sampdoria, Cremonese and Verona has continued to solidify itself as the absolute to go down into Serie B. All three have been in the drop zone for months now and Verona are still sitting behind Salernitana in 16th by eight points.
They have, however, greatly improved since the World Cup. In fact, the club’s only loss in the six games since the World Cup concluded came against Inter Milan at the San Siro.
Marco Zaffaroni’s men drew with Torino and beat Cremonese before that loss, and they have since gone on to beat Lecce 2-0 and draw 1-1 with Udinese and Lazio.
Salernitana will head into this game after a move back to the losing column, following on from Juventus’ 3-0 demoliton at the Arechi Stadium. The club remain above the drop zone by seven points, however, and have won five times compared to Verona’s three.
