Match preview
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan will be hopeful of keeping alive a timely recent upturn in form, when they welcome minnows Salernitana to San Siro for a Serie A showdown on Sunday, October 16th.
The Nerazzurri, all told, are in the midst of an altogether hit-and-miss campaign to date.
Owing to a record of five wins and four defeats from their nine outings, Inter sit in a lowly 7th in the Italian top-flight table, already a full eight points adrift of leaders Napoli.
The last couple of weeks, though, have seen the Milanese giants finally begin to find their feet.
This was followed by a hard-fought victory at Sassuolo, owing to an Edin Dzeko brace, before Inter followed up with a point at the Camp Nou which could, when all is said and done, send Barca packing from the Champions League.
Romelu Lukaku’s ongoing absence does mark an area of concern, but, all in all, the Beneamata look a side very much on the up.

Salernitana, despite a much-needed win of their own last time out, should therefore prove no match for their upcoming hosts.
Davide Nicola’s troops sit in the comforts of mid-table at present, 11th owing to a commendable record of two wins, four draws, and just three defeats.
This includes an impressive stalemate at Juventus, a 4-0 drubbing of basement dwellers Sampdoria and, most recently, a morale-boosting last-gasp win over Hellas Verona.
After welcoming Hellas to the Stadio Arechi, proceedings looked set to peter out into a draw, with the scoreline locked at a goal apiece with a full 93 minutes on the clock.
This, however, all changed upon Boulaye Dia bending home a fine effort with almost the last kick of the game, guiding Salernitana to all three points in the process.
Keep an eye out for Dia once more this weekend, too – the Senegalese hitman has racked up an impressive six direct goal contributions in eight appearances this season.
Backing Salernitana to nab a point on Sunday may therefore be worth a punt for the risk-takers out there, but we at 101 nevertheless view hosts Inter as clear-cut favourites to emerge from San Siro triumphant come the full-time whistle.
