It’s one of the biggest games in Serie A this season and one of the top games across Europe as Jose Mourinho heads to his old side when Roma travel to the San Siro to meet with Inter Milan in the midst of a tough start to the season for them.
The first seven goals for Inter have not gone accordingly to plan at all. Romelu Lukaku has fired just one goal all campaign long, which came two minutes into his second debut for the club. Injuries to him and a lack of goals elsewhere have not helped the Milan side in improving on their seventh spot right now.
Inter did respond well to their 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich and a 3-2 defeat to rivals AC Milan at the start of the season, as the 19-time champions of Italy defeated Torino 1-0 and then Viktoria Plzen 2-0 in the Champions League. However, a stunning 3-1 loss to Udinese keeps them outside of the top four and five points off league leaders Napoli with three losses and four wins so far and a worrying 11 goals let in from seven outings.
As for Roma, it’s been a topsy-turvy campaign for them too as they have also been hammered by Udinese in a 4-0 loss, but they sit one point clear of Inter in the table and in sixth. However, with a 1-0 loss to Atalanta last time out, their title credentials have been greatly damaged.
Roma are also not doing great in Europe either after a 2-1 loss to Ludogorets and a 3-0 win over HJK. Regardless of form, however, the return of Mourinho to the San Siro against a side he famously won the treble with is going to get pulses racing.
