Lazio will be aiming to return to the win column after a stunning loss on the road to Lecce in their Serie A comeback game as Maruizio Sarri’s men now sit fifth in the table ahead of welcoming Empoli to the Stadio Olimpico.
Ciro Immobile was once again on the scoresheet for Lazio in the last outing, but in conceding two goals in the second half after going a goal up, the club’s recent charge towards the top four has taken a huge hit.
Worse yet for Lazio, all the clubs around them besides Atalanta picked up all three points, with them now six adrift of AC Milan in second and 11 behind Napoli in first. Ultimately, they could be out of the title race now.
The Rome side are still only three behind Inter, however, and have the best defensive record in the league behind Juventus. Sarri’s side – along with Napoli – have let in just 13 goals from 16 games and lost four times.
As for Empoli, they drew 1-1 with Udinese to keep them in 13th, but Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro was sent off in that game and now misses this clash
