Match preview

Monza and Sassuolo come into their Serie A clash this Sunday afternoon in completely contrasting form after yet another defeat for the Neroverdi which has thrown them closer to the relegation zone than ever before in 2022/23.

Sassuolo have now lost all three games since action resumed in Serie A after the World Cup, as Sampdoria, Fiorentina and Lazio have snatched all three points them.

In fact, the only two goals the club have scored post-World Cup in the league have come from the penalty spot, as Domenico Berardi netted from 12 yards against Sampdoria and Fiorentina.

Sassuolo are now in 17th and have just a seven-point gap on Sampdoria in 18th. At the same time, no club outside of the bottom three has scored fewer goals than them, with only Bologna and Salernitana conceding more too.

Monza registered another win over the weekend to extend their unbeaten run to three games since the World Cup. Raffaele Palladino’s travelled to Cremonese last time out, beating the 20th-placed side 3-2.

Partrick Ciurria scored the opening goal, before Gianluca Caprari scored twice to give Monza a 3-0 lead. Two goals later on brought the game to 3-2, but this win has now put Monza into 12th.
