Jose Mourinho will be looking to reignite Roma’s season in Serie A this Wednesday when Italian football returns as his side sit seventh ahead of playing hosts to strugglers Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.
It looked by all cases that Roma would be able to slide themselves into the hectic title race this season in Serie A after such a positive start off the back of a decent campaign last year, while they also added the likes of Paulo Dybala to their squad.
Now, however, they sit seventh in the league and behind Atalanta in sixth by goals difference. Their is a gap of only three points on fifth-placed Inter Milan and fourth-placed rivals Lazio, with Juventus just four points ahead in third. It does mean there is still a great hope of getting back into the Champions League for next season.
Bologna are up into 11th after they finally kickstarted their season with some wins before the World Cup break after previously sitting inside the bottom six for weeks on end.
They’re now behind Fiorentina in 10th by just goals difference and behind Roma by eight points in seventh.
