Match preview
Two sides separated by just a solitary place in the Serie A table are set to lock horns at the Stadio Alberto Picco this Sunday, April 2nd.
The matchup in question will see Spezia act as hosts, in a meeting with Salernitana.
Beginning with the former, Spezia are primed to head into proceedings fresh off being brought firmly back down to earth last time out.
After seeing out a trio of successive fixtures without defeat, capped off by a stellar 2-1 downing of Inter Milan, in their final fixture leading into the international break, the Aquilotti made the trip to Reggio Emilia for a meeting with Sassuolo.
And, owing to a disappointing display, Leonardo Semplici’s troops were ultimately condemned to a 1-0 defeat.
Spezia, as a result, remain very much in the relegation conversation, currently sitting 17th, five points clear of the bottom three.

This comes owing to not only their own position in the standings, but also the fact that it would see them claw back opponents Salernitana.
Salernitana, for their part, currently sit a full eight points clear of the drop zone, owing in no small part to a solid run of form of their own prior to last week’s break.
The Granata are currently in the midst of a four-game undefeated streak, dating back to late February.
This stretch was kicked into gear by way of a hugely impressive 3-0 drubbing of Monza, before Paulo Sousa’s men battled their way to a share of the spoils with all of Sampdoria, AC Milan and, most recently, Bologna.
Sunday’s relegation six-pointer on Italy’s west coast, in turn, looks an altogether tough one to call.
We at 101 are therefore backing Spezia and Salernitana, when all is said and done, to play out into stalemate at the Alberto Picco.
