Top half of the Serie A meets with the bottom half this Monday night in a few games which includes Torino welcoming Lecce to the Olympic Grande Stadium in Turin as they look to bounce back from a recent loss.
The Turin side were defeated by the high-flying Atalanta in Bergamo last time out, as a late goal from Nikola Vlasic was not enough to overturn Teun Koopmeiners’ hat-trick. He did, however, score two from the penalty spot and Torino did also see 60% of the ball away from home that day.
Prior to this, they were on a three-game unbeaten run that even saw them get a point against Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio. Torino also faced off with two of the three newly-promoted sides, defeating Monza 2-1 with goals from Antonio Sanabria and Aleksei Miranchuk. Against Cremonese, Vlasic was among the goals once more, as Nemanja Radonjic scored as well.
As for Lecce, they are one of the six teams inside the bottom six who remain winless and they only sit outside of the drop zone ahead of this one based on two draws and a better goals difference than Sampdoria.
Lecce did, however, manage to get a draw off Napoli last time out, as they halted their early charge towards the top of Serie A. The game finished 1-1 as Lorenzo Colombo rapidly equalised in the first half, as Samuel Umtiti was once again another unused substitute.
Another draw with Empoli and defeats to Inter Milan and Sassuolo keep them down in 16th and hope is beginning to run dry for Lecce fans this season. They will need to build on that commendable draw with Napoli to get a result here.
