Match preview

The headlines fixture of the upcoming round of fixtures in Italy’s top-flight is set to play out at The Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Saturday, October 15th.

The fixture in question will see a Juventus side in the midst of what can only be described as a crisis make the trip across Turin, for a derby showdown with city rivals Torino.

The Bianconeri, of course, have grabbed the headlines in Italy across the season to date for all the wrong reasons.

This comes with Massimiliano Allegri’s troops – so recently viewed as a lock to take home the Scudetto on a yearly basis – continuing to look a shell of their once great selves.

The Old Lady’s most recent outing saw them make the trip to San Siro for a showdown with champions AC Milan, hopeful of building on back-to-back victories across all competitions. When all was said and done, though, a limp showing culminated in a deserved 2-0 defeat, owing to strikes on the part of Fikayo Tomori and Brahim Diaz.

The woes of Allegri and co. then only continued to worsen in midweek, as a shock loss at the hands of Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa all but confirmed their imminent exit from the Champions League.

Torino, then, could well fancy their chances of springing a surprise of their own this weekend.

The Granata have not secured a three-point haul at the expense of their vaunted city rivals since all the way back in the 2014/15 season.

With Juventus in disarray at both ends of the pitch, though, opportunity awaits for Ivan Juric’s outfit this weekend.

Torino themselves have not been in the best of form of late, with only a last-gasp Sasa Lukic strike having prevented Empoli from condemning Il Toro to a 4th successive defeat last weekend.

We at 101 therefore view the spoils being shared as being the most likely outcome upon the final whistle sounding in the latest edition of The Derby della Mole.
